Job Opportunity – Administrative Fellow

 

Description

We are seeking an administrative fellow to provide general support for Foundation staff as well as work on two initiatives of the Board of Directors of the Foundation. The first is our Funder Education Initiative, an effort to inform and educate the funding community on the benefits of incorporating more inclusive grantmaking practices. The second is the Self-Advocate Advisory Committee, an advisory committee of disability and community experts that advise the Foundation on grantee selection. The position of Administrative Fellow is a part-time, non-permanent, contract position that reports to the Executive Director. This fellowship can last up to a year. The position is remote, but preference is given to candidates who reside in the Bay area and Silicon Valley. The position occasionally requires local travel for Foundation events. 

Responsibilities

The fellow will work closely with the Executive Director to achieve the following objectives:

1) Assist with the Funder Education Initiative by updating and maintaining the Funder Education database, handling correspondence with philanthropy partners and managing scheduling requests related to the Funder Education Initiative.

2) Engage with the Self-Advocate Advisory Committee by managing the committee membership application process, assisting with the orientation process, scheduling committee meetings and providing administrative support for committee meetings.

3) Respond to general information requests made to the Foundation.

 

The fellow will meet regularly with the Executive Director to strategize and review their work.

Qualifications

The Fellow will have the following characteristics:

  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Professional and responsive in their interactions
  • Able to work well independently, given that there is no day to day supervision in an office setting
  • Be proficient in Microsoft and G Suite products
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations
  • Experience using the Zoom web conferencing platform is preferred, be not required

The fellow will meet the following educational requirements:

  • Enrolled as a student in a post-secondary educational setting at a junior or higher level in university/college
  • Recent graduates and graduate students will also be considered

 

Compensation

This position is 20 hours/week for up to a year. Compensation will be at $15/hour. There is no health or other benefits.
