San Mateo, CA, January 21, 2022 – As a healthcare funder that focuses on promoting comprehensive care for adults with developmental disabilities, WITH understands how deeply the intellectual and developmental disabilities community is impacted by COVID-19. In response to the continued need, WITH is awarding a 3rd round of funding through our COVID-19 Response Fund.
This funding opportunity seeks to support existing COVID-19 services and clinics in being intentional in addressing the needs of adults with I/DD experiencing long-haul COVID. The funding can also support healthcare institutions and providers to develop resources related to addressing the needs of adults with I/DD experiencing long-haul COVID.
WITH Foundation is pleased to provide $50,000 of grant funding for the following project:
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Foundation
The UTRGV Knapp Medical Center (KMC) Internal Medicine program is a community-based graduate medical education program in Weslaco, Texas.
The goal of the UTRGV project, The Internal Medicine Residents Involvement in Post-COVID Care of People Living with Disabilities, is to help residents improve their competency and general knowledge, awareness, and practice in caring for individuals with COVID. Through 40-resident participant dyads, the project will give residents the opportunity to care for patients with disabilities and treat the complex effects of long-haul COVID in people with disabilities.
